Google account features and case import
Sign in with a connected account and move case files through Drive or GitHub.
Edit on GitHubThe sign-in page at /login offers email or username and password, Google, and GitHub sign-in. A Google connection also enables case backup to Google Drive and import from Drive. GitHub sign-in enables import from a repository. These are account connections: they do not publish a case or give other people case access.
Sign in and connect
Choose Google on the sign-in page to authorise the account. The platform stores connection details and obtains Drive access for the related features. If a Drive grant is absent or later revoked, the import and backup sections prompt you to sign in or reconnect. A successful ordinary login does not by itself prove that Drive access remains available; those sections check it when opened. Choose GitHub when you need to import a case file from a repository. The import dialog checks that connection separately. Google requests the drive.file scope. GitHub requests the repo scope, granting read and write access to all repositories the account can access, including private repositories. Check the consent screen before authorising either connection.
Import a case
From the dashboard, open Import File. The import dialog supports a local JSON file, a GitHub JSON file, and a Google Drive backup. On the GitHub tab, enter a URL to a JSON file or the supported owner/repo/file.json shorthand, then select Import from GitHub. The connection prompt appears when the account has no usable GitHub token. On the Google Drive tab, select a file from the TEA Platform Backups folder and choose Import from Google Drive. The Drive tab prompts for Google connection if needed.
An import creates a working case from case data. It does not merge a file into the case you currently have open. The import logic accepts supported case formats and can return warnings. Read those warnings before continuing to the imported case. A GitHub URL must point to a JSON case file; the GitHub tab is not a general repository browser.
Back up to Drive
In the case's share and export controls, the Google backup section offers Backup to Google Drive when Drive is connected. It exports the case as JSON and uploads it to the user's TEA Platform Backups folder. The API accepts an includeComments option, but the current browser control does not send it. The response identifies the saved file. This is a user-initiated copy, so repeat it after later case changes if you need a newer backup. It is separate from publishing to Discover and from the case Trash recovery period.
Limits and code location
Drive and GitHub operations require valid account grants and can fail when a provider refuses access or its token expires. The UI does not promise continuous synchronisation with either provider. Sign-in is rendered by components/auth/sign-in-form.tsx; import UI is in components/modals/_import-modal/; Drive backup UI is in components/modals/_share-modal/google-backup-section.tsx. The case import and backup routes are under app/api/cases/.
